Les HOUCHES ski area
With 34km of ski area, comprised of 19 main pistes and 23 ski lifts, Les Houches ski station is the largest in the Chamonix valley.
The Hotel CHRIS-TAL is 2 bus stops (900m) away from the main ski piste of Les Houches. The Télépherique de Bellevue will take you, in summer and in winter, up to 1800m of altitude . . . so, in winter, you can devour the magnificent pistes on your skis, or serenenly hike with your ski-shoes ; and, in summer, you can mountain bike or hike in the area.
The ski area of Les Houches stretches from 1000m until 1900m, up to the Prarion summit. Snow cover of excellent quality is generally until mid-March, thanks to the « Ubac » and an excellent snow-making machine. These factors allow for a return via the home-run until late in the season, sometimes even into April. Les Houches ski area is for all levels of skier, from beginner to expert. On the Prarion plateau, you can try out cross-country skiing, away from the downhill skiers, or you can enjoy the exhilarating contemplation rewarded through ski-shoeing. Les Houches is great for families, with wooded pistes that are well-maintained, with magnificent views . . . without forgetting the expert and competitive-level skier.
The Les Houches ski area is well-known worldwide for its famous La Verte piste (in fact, this is a black-level run!), which is one of the officially recognised pistes of the Ski World Cup. The best of the downhill competitors of the Cristal Cup often compete on this World Cup piste, also known as the « Kandahar Piste ».
