Les
Houches ski resort
2 minutes by car from
the hotel
An area that
is sometimes overlooked, being a little bit apart further down the valley.
Like Le Tour this is a good place for beginners and intermediates. Much
more sheltered than the other ski areas, it can be a good place to go
when the weathers bad and there are some good fun runs through the trees.
Les Houches has two main cable cars. One leaves from the center of town
and ends at the Belle Vue, the other from Les Chavants and arrives at
La Prarion.

"Tour
Col de Balme" ski resort
25
minutes by car from the hotel
This is probably
the best ski area in the valley for beginners and intermediates. At the
bottom three drag lifts make up the Vormaine area, ideal for complete
novices or children with its green and blue runs.
A new chair-lift on the Vallorcine side of the valley has opened up the
ski area enormously, adding an extra 4 or 5 runs not to mention the off
piste opportunities. An idyllic off piste run through the trees right
down to Vallorcine with a scenic train ride back into the Chamonix valley
is a great way to finish the day.
During summer, Le Tour is also a hiking center : from the relaxing country
walk to the more difficult paths. It's up to you to choose your type of
walk which enable you to discover and appreciate this mountain universe.

"Brevent
- Flégère" ski resort
10
minutes by car from the hotel
On the sunny
south facing side of the valley close to Chamonix town center, The "Brévent
- Flégère" lift system offers a variety of pistes where
all skiers, what ever their ability, will find runs to delight them. The
surroundings are majestic; this is a remarkable natural belevedere. The
summit of the Brévent offers a panoramic circular view of Mont-Blanc,
the Aiguilles peaks of Chamonix, the Fiz massif and the Aravis mountains.
Offering a majestic setting facing the Mont-Blanc. It is also the domain
of snowboarding and deep powder skiing. Two km up the valley (after Chamonix)
is the village of Les Praz where La Flégère cablecar whisks
you up to another south-facing network of lifts and runs. From its trails,
enjoy an exceptional view of the Mer de Glace and the Mont-Blanc range.
Ideal runs for ski-touring in spring. Since 1997, the Brévent and
Flégère ski areas have been linked by a cablecar enabling

"Grands
Montêts" ski resort
20
minutes by car from the hotel
This prestigious
ski area, partly on glaciers, has an international reputation because
of the extent of its routes and trails spread over three different bowls.
The length of the trails and the exceptional vertical (3,300m down to
1,200m) combined with the exceptional snow quality throughout the season
make it a must for skiers and snowboarders alike.
Its size, the snow quality and the variety of ski
runs and off-piste trails will delight the most demanding skier. Beginners
will enjoy the sunny slopes of les Chosalets, located 500 m from the Grands
Montets cablecar.
